how to replace a broken fitting

you need some tools :

- a digital controlled hot air gun,
- a cutting tool
- a 3 to 4mm  -1/8 to 5/32 " self tapping screw
- screwdriver

the temperature must be set around 210°C - 410°F
you may turn it on now, it will take a few minutes to reach the
correct temperature

if you want to use this type of guns for a long time,
it is good to know that before turning them off,
they should be left to cool below 100 ° C -210 ° F

to remove the broken part :

drill it inside with a drill bit measuring approximately 2/3 of the diameter of the screw you will be using

then tighten the self-tapping screw

heat for about 2-3 minutes
avoiding to direct the flow of hot air directly onto the net so as not to melt it
also remove the velco strap if there is any

 pull it out gently.
aluminum is an excellent conductor of temperature, the glue will melt without damaging the paint.

prepare the profile adapting the shape with abrasive paper if it does not easily enter

the non-glued side,

the profile must be inserted 35-40 mm in the glued side

(left in the photo), and left to protrude 40-45 mm

... the profile is drop-shaped, has a front and a back ...

first
cut around 5 mm from the glue stick

put inside the profile

heat it with the gun set at 210°C

you can help the complete melting of the glue by mixing from inside with a thin metal wire

until it melts completely, you can direct the stream of hot air inside to the profile also

now the new fitting can be inserted up to the planned deept,

than let it cool down.

if you want to use this type of guns for a long time, it is good to know that before turning them off,

they should be left to cool below 100 ° C -210 ° F
